Fulltime RVing with children is challenging to say the least. Notably if you have got a pair of sons like we do. We call them "Inside" and "Outside".
Like the majority of brothers and sisters, our boys are really dissimilar to one another. The older son is ten and his first word was "OUTSIDE!" Which he frequently proclaimed with remarkable emphasis while standing by our front door at five am.
He never changed significantly since those days and is undoubtedly happiest out-of-doors, scampering, swimming, bike riding or playing soldiers.
Alternatively, our other boy prefers to be indoors; playing legos, chatting with himself as well as sketching extensive detailed art work. He loves to be in the same room with me providing I do my own thing and don't disturb him until he is finished.
Nevertheless regardless of these dissimilarities, both of these siblings, "Inside" and "Outside" have usually gotten along very well. Which is a major reason why our family could go Rving fulltime this year.
Up to now, Inside and Outside are behaving quite nicely on this fulltime RV journey. For the grown ups,one of the greatest features about living in a full time RV may be the ability to check out the wonderful historical sites and sight-seeing opportunities that dot this excellent country of ours. To put it briefly, there's a lot to discover.
However coming from a kid's standpoint, this "lets see it all" dash to each and every attraction you come into contact with, can be very tedious.
A couple of weeks into our journey, we recognized this fast-moving pace was beginning to exhaust them. They became cranky and were acting out more than they normally do.
What we realized was that we all had been living an "adults life" at an "adult pace".
Of course, if you are RVing full time with children, you just can't do it like this.
What we realized is the fact children have to play. They really need leisure time to be by themselves, have fun with their own toys and games, have downtime and play with other kids at the RV park.
We concluded that this play time is critical to a positive home life for them. On the road, children miss their close friends, their home, their toys and thier play time. And when you're living in an rv fulltime, moms and dads need to understand this and modify their routines that include some normal everyday down time activities.
So we realized that we were going too quickly, wanting to do too much and therefore needed to slow down. Therefore we did.
And so when you're on the road in an Rv full time with kids, check out as many attractions as you reasonably can.But don't forget to schedule in a good amount of "chillaxin' time".
After all, the sight-seeing opportunities and "not to be missed" sites will probably always be there...yet your kids will not always be kids, so give 'em time in order to be just that.
